1997 fiesta 1.25 p0231 fault

Featured Replies

Hello all

I have a 38000 mile fiesta and has sat in my mother in law's garage since new. She has let the battery die a few times and I have fitted a new one but now it won't start. It turns over fine but won't fire. Coming up with p0231 secondary fuel circuit fault. I think I have checked the correct fuses and at least 1 relay but to no avail. Can't hear pump priming at any point.

Thanks for any help

Can you access the pump under the rear seats on Mk4?  If so, put 12v directly to it using some spare wire to check whether the pump actually works.  It's probably seized up if it's been parked for a while with stale petrol in it.

That is on my planned to try list. Not had time to pull seats out yet.

Changed the pump and it still didn't work the original was jammed. Getting 12v to it on original plug but won't run. Put 12v from battery on it and it runs. Anyone any ideas?

Have put a 12v jumper link in at fuse box and it works on the original wiring so am I correct in assuming it's being dragged down under load?
