MK7 Fiesta PCM not programming. No crank, No Start

Featured Replies

Hi all, new to the club so sorry if this has been asked before.

I'm in desperate need of help and advice.

So I've just purchased a 2011 Fiesta 1.6L Petrol, Auto from a damage/salvage auction. The damage was only skin deep and nothing structural, so I've replaced all the damaged panels. All 4 doors, bonnet, wings and front bumper. The vehicle didn't come with keys, so I've had keys cut and programmed, the vehicle locks/unlocks and the ignition turns on, but the odometer is blank, the security light is flashing and the engine doesn't crank or start.

Presuming the car needs reprogramming, I've had the car at my local Ford dealer twice who have done a diagnostic and told me the PCM was faulty. I bought a used, but tested and working PCM (Same part number) from a scrap yard and gave that to the dealer to install. My dealer has now spent 3 days trying to re-program the replacement PCM and it keeps failing. They have told me to come and get the car as they're not willing to spend any more time on it.

As the dealer can't re-program a PCM to the car, I'm now planning to change all the modules from a donor car, including PCM, Ignition, Transponder, Cluster, BCM and Radio, the only hiccup I foresee is the donor car is a manual, my car is an Auto.

Does anyone know if this might work, or am I wasting my time? This car really starting to test my patience 😭

Update and yet to be resolved..

After I got the car back from my Ford Dealer (who was as useful as t!ts on a Bull) I scanned the car for codes. And without listing them all, there seemed to be about 6 no communication with the cluster codes.

ABS comm fail, Steering Comm fail, Crash comm fail etc.

Failing any forthcoming advice, I went ahead and swapped all the modules from the donor car, which was relatively easy and took about 45 minutes (I've got nothing to lose so why not). With ALL the modules replaced, the car presented exactly the same symptoms and when scanned it displayed exactly the same fault codes. Odd considering not one original module remained.

I'm still to resolve the issue, but it's pretty evident that my issue is not PCM, Module or Key related.

I'm now hunting a wiring or harness fault..

The fight continues!

Check for damaged wiring from the impact first
