Engine coolant temperature

Featured Replies

Hello, I have a Ford fiesta mk8 2018 1.5 tdci 85hp.

I would like to know if engine coolant temperature is normal.

I have seen 99 Celsius maximum with 8-10 Celsius outside temperature.

When car is getting hot temperature rises from 82-83 it goes up to 94 95 and maximum 99 and never fall to 82-83.

The needle remains always in the middle.

Any suggestions? 😁

That is totally normal.

The coolant temperature can get as hot as 106oC during some operations. The normal average is around 90oC for a normally warmed up engine.

The temperature gauge does not  reflect the exact temp, but is deliberately 'slugged' so as sudden temp changes doesn't cause the driver to worry. Seems it failed on that point this time 🤣

Thank you very much for your response.

Unfortunately yes I am always worried and check temperature almost every time I drive 😂

A friend of mine, same car with 120hp has max 83C and he recently change thermostat because it was stuck open and thats why I thought I have a serious problem

Your cars temperature behavior is totally normal, no need to worry.
