Bcm not sending out signal to the wipers.

Featured Replies

Hi all we have a fiesta 65 reg only covered 23000 miles but the front wipers have stopped working everything else works on the stalk ,had someone come round and the motor tests all good the Bcm is clicking ,taken it out it’s all clean inside no debris moisture etc,

can the module be repaired tested ,if so who would be best to contact .

Dont think I am computer savvy to start downloading files etc with a new module.

sorry about all the questions but my mot as run out

regards

Nick.

Hi Nick, and welcome.

Just to confirm, is it only the front wiper motion that is affected i.e. the rear wipers and washer still works, as does the front washer? And is the wiper action not working on either speed (I think there's only two)?

The BCM clicking (relays, presumably) is interesting. Have the outputs of the BCM been confirmed as not working? (Thus ruling out the loom and local earthing issues)

Hello Nick @Nick Tr5

Welcome to the Ford Owners Club 👍

It could very well be the BCM, but it could also just be a faulty wiper stalk. Given the urgency of the need to get these fixed and working ASAP so you can get an MOT I'd possible suggest replacing the wiper stalk (I don't normally recommend just throwing parts at things).

If it turns out the BCM is at fault then in some cases they can be repaired, but it will depend on the exact fault.

Has the wiper motor been run by directly connecting a 12V supply to it ?  You need a 'good' Auto-Electrician that can fault find if you don't feel confident to try things yourself.

Hi guys thx for taking the time to answer, motor is good switch sending signal to bcm but no signal coming out to the motor the sparks put his tester on the wire and he could make the wipers work we took the bcm out and its clean inside with no debris etc.

wiper switch works as it should apart from the front wipers.

asked if we could run addional wiring to a switch but he said you cant.

It sounds like you've done the hard bit - confirmed the switch, looms and wiper motor are all working, and narrowed down the cause to the BCM.

The 'clicking' you hear - is that in response to the switch input? Given you've had the BCM apart then you should be able to pinpoint the specific relays in play, and with the input and logic stages sounding like they are fine this only leaves the output left. There can't be much in the way of component and circuitry between those relays and the output pins to test with a probe/meter.

Just check the power coming out of the BCM, sounds like you have a wiring fault (Broke) more than a BCM fault

Thanks again guys

electrics not my thing but from what the sparks said the signal not coming out of the bcm he was of the opinion i need another then get it programmed

i bought one with same numbers £20 so not bad waiting for post,

Stupid question but if i get my son to switch the wiper arm and i can feel which plug is making the noise at the module can i run it in tandem plugging it in the one ive bought worth a try?

what would happen if i just plug the new one in obviously the car wont start but would the dash lights come on etc

before i pay to have it all programmed

regards

Nick
