Bike carb conversion issues.

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

Please can someone help me with some advise for my bike carb conversion on my Fiesta?

Ive got a 2006 1.4 Duratec (Sigma) Ive junked all the EFI and installed a set of 600 carbs on a DanST Manifold with a Nodiz Ignition only ECU (https://motorsport-electronics.co.uk/product/nodiz-gen-x-with-terminated-ford-zetec-harness/)

Ive got it pulling juice from the tank via a bike fuel pump and it will just about run (With a manual choke installed) however when i rev it up it misses, pops and splutters. The Nodiz loom picks up on the crank sensor and replaces the plug to the coil.

However i have noticed that the alternator is only putting out around 12v which could account for the fact it wont rev cleanly, however there seemed to be around 5 plugs that went to various things around the EFI & Manifold that are now disconnected (All eventually going into the big Grey plug which is still plugged in)

Now i guess the alternator could be bad faulty, however i'd be very surprised as the car has only done 60k miles and seems a huge coincidence, especially as lots of things have now been removed/unplugged.

I was wondering if anyone else has done a bike carb/normal carb conversion on this engine (or perhaps any other EFI Ford engine) and experienced these issues? The only connection to the alternator i can see/feel is the big wire with a nut on it where i have tested the voltage coming out. I have also charged the battery fully to 14v, started it and still seems to run like a dog.

Thanks in advance guys.

Any/all help much appreciated
