Hi all, apologies for my first post being a query.

Our Fiesta Mk6 developed rust on the lower edge of the passenger door. I've halted its progress with some Jenolite for now, but it would be cheaper to swap the entire door for one from a scrap donor.

I've found one about 90 minutes away, same year and paint code, same electrics for window and mirror. Win/win.

However, measuring the door's dimensions I find that its going to be an iffy fit into the back of our estate car. Could be doable if tilted sideways, but I wont know until I get there. Which could pose problems.

So what I'm now wondering is, could I do the door swap in situ, at the donor site? I've changed over doors on cars before so the nuts and bolts of it will be fine, but are there any actuators or locks that will need swapped from old to new? I dont see a key barrel on the passenger side, only the drivers side.

    Hi Gary,

    A 2012 Fiesta in the UK is a Mk7 not a Mk6.

    Be careful with the door swap if you are not transferring your vehicles electrics over to the new door, there have been a number of cases of the replacement door locking, and not been able to be opened again.
