Fiesta MK6 ST150 - What is this part?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys & Gals,

I'm scratching my head trying to find whatever on earth this part is called. I thought it was the drain plug however after getting a part number back from ford that doesn't look to be the case.

Below is an image from a Haynes video highlighting the part I need to replace as mine has a very slow leak of coolant. I've yet to remove the part but it looks to be a threaded screw so I'm hoping perhaps some PTFE tape could be enough to fix the leak but I'll happily replace the part assuming a replacement is available.

Hoping someone on here has had the same issue and a potential fix.

The part you've circled there is a torx screw for the radiator mount.

The drain plug is above it, black plastic with a cross slot on the front.

There's fluid coming out of that bolt????

The underside of the torque screw is weeping coolant, perhaps the drain plug above is to blame and its just collecting under the bolt.

I'll have a better inspection at the weekend weather permitted. I noticed a wet patch under the motor and when getting the light on it a few nights back it seemed to be the bolt which was the only thing wet.

Gotta be the drain plug right! Does anyone have a part number, I can only seem to find a sump plug or the raditaor bottom cap (1221319).

Part number is 6172088.

However, not all of the Mk6 radiators had a drain plug.

I would recommend having another look at yours before ordering the plug.

Thanks for the help, I'll take a good look this weekend before purchasing any parts. Hopefully it's nothing serious and just the plug on it'd way out.

After a further investigation I don't seem to have a drain plug on my radiator just the bung at the bottom.

It looks however to be the inner part of the bung where the radiator piping looks to mate with the surface if I'm describing that right.

I really hope this is a serviceable part but here are some photographs any ideas?

That's not the OP's car.  It's a still pulled from a video on a different engined Mk6.

That isn't a pipe at the bottom.  It's simply a 'stand' that enters the rubber mount to hold the radiator in place.  There is no coolant in that area.

It looks to me like the radiator is damaged higher up, and will need a replacement radiator.
