Fuel light on at 1/4 full

Featured Replies

Hi,

Looking for any advice/quick fix please?

59 plate purchased just before xmas and noticed that the fuel light comes on at 1/4 full, filled it up a couple of time thinking it might sort its self out but hasn't (wouldn't normally be to bothered but the car is my daughters and don't want her running out of fuel).

Any quick fix?  Dealer gave me 6 months warranty, would something like this be covered?

Thanks

Usually the fuel light comes on about 40miles left in the tank indicated on the dash display, so it depends on how spirited it is being driven, if the car thinks it can't do more than 40miles on 1/4 of a tank it'll throw the fuel light on. The alternative is, the amount of fuel you put in should be around 3/4 of the tank, if it is more then the fuel gauge or the sender are not working correctly.
