When did you last check the oil level ?

When was the last time the engine oil and filter were changed ?

A faulty sensor would not be very high on my list of probable causes. Continuing to to run the engine when the reason for the low oil pressure warning is not known, is something I'd advise against !!

I would have no idea when the filter or oil was changed I’ve only had it for a year and it’s been sitting on the driveway because it wasn’t starting but now it’s running it’s decided it wants to give me more grief lol

If I'm reading this correctly, you had no idea when the oil was last changed before you got the car? You've then left it unused for another year allowing the oil to degrade further from condensation, etc?

I'd certainly suggest an oil/filter change before attempting to use it further. Strain the old oil and look for debris. If you're lucky and all seems ok do regular oil/filter changes in future. (Annually as an absolute minimum, 6 monthly or less if usage remains low.)

Looks like one of the rare occurrences where a low oil pressure thread isn't for a 1.0 EcoBoost!

With no wetbelt and no VCT, the oil isn't so critical on the 1.4 TDCi.

I wouldn't be surprised if the level is just low tbh.  If the level is ok but the colour is questionable then change oil & filter, making sure filter is seated correctly.

If still faulty, then consider the oil pressure switch, or the engine wiring loom.
