Front End Rattles Mk7

Featured Replies

So I accumulated a kit of genuine Ford parts and gave the lot to a local independent for them to fit.

Parts included were front struts, springs, top mounts, track rod ends, drop links, wishbones, front anti roll bar bushes.

Today driving slowly over a very rough surface we noticed some rattles coming from front end. To say I’m ***** off is an understatement.

Is there anything on the front end that I’ve missed? I couldn’t think of anything else…

I've changed all but the same as you..I also found intercooler mounting rubbers rattled if there worn..and all plastics can rattle from being taken off and on

Definitely sounds heavier than plastic rattle. Might look into intercooler mountings though

Ford's rubber grommet things were expensive so I used Bath tap washers and cut to shape..

Ford....£25

Poundshop....£1.00

So things have developed a bit. Got a call from the Mrs saying the car was making weird noises.

Took the car a little run and before I even got out the driveway I could hear a creaking noise when turning the steering wheel. Then when I set off there was a clunk when changing from 1st into 2nd.

Any ideas? Does this sound familiar?

The garage may have left a nut or bolt loose.  Take it back and get it up on their ramp.

Yes good idea. I’m not happy with the mrs driving it when I’m not sure what the noises are.
