Boot actuator not working

Another thing I’ve noticed is the boot doesn’t open when just try the boot button with the car unlocked.  The only way to get the boot open is to use the button on the key fob.  
 

I read somewhere that this was common and due to a locked solenoid ????.  If so is it an easy fix and if so how ?

    Solenoid will be totally fine, it's the same one that opens the boot when you press the button on the keyfob.

    What is a very common fault is the button on the boot handle fails. You can buy a complete replacement on eBay for under £10, and it takes about 15 minutes to fit.

    Good to know, I wasn't sure if the Fiesta has a similar handle to a Focus...

    Yeah they are similar the only difference is the focus ones (MK3 onwards) have the number plate lights integrated into the button
