Is it mandatory to replace the turbo for Ford Focus 1.0 Ltd

Featured Replies

Hello,

I found a car which need to replace the turbo. The engine is 1L. I will use the car to day to day use. Sometime I may go for motorway but max speed will be 70-80Mph. In that case is it mandatory to replace the turbo or I can use without turbo. Please share your suggestion.

Thanks

If the turbo is damaged, it will often leak oil into the engine or exhaust so you will have to replace it to prevent further damage.

Also, turbo damage on this engine is usually the sign of a degrading timing belt.  For that reason I would suggest avoiding this car altogether and choosing a different one.

It's not brilliant with a turbo, I doubt it would even manage to pull the skin off a rice pudding with no turbo fitted, or even worse, with a non functional turbo fitted.

Warning, a blown turbo is usually down to oil starvation, which is caused by the oil strainer being blocked by debris from the wet belts
