Maf sensor replacement

Featured Replies

Hi I have an error code for low air pressure but the car still drives fine other than the engine light on. I have bought a new sensor and fitted it but the car won’t start it then throws lots of fault codes up. I take the new sensor back out and put the old sensor back in and the car starts again but still has low air pressure fault. Can someone please advise me or am I doing something wrong.

Sorry forgot to say ford fiesta 1.5 diesel 2015

Thanks in advance.

.

MAF sensor reads air flow, not air pressure.  What is the exact fault code that you're getting?

Sorry the code is p0112 intake air temperature sensor low imput.

i think it is the air temperature sensor and not the Maf sensor which I was originally was told. What do you think?

Ok.  As far as I know, there isn't a standalone IAT sensor on the 1.5 TDCI.  There may be one in the MAF.  But there is also one in the MAP (boost) sensor on the plastic boost pipe behind the engine.

That code could indicate a wiring fault rather than a sensor fault.

I think this is the correct sensor - Genuine Ford Sensor 1867675 | eBay

Thank you very much. I have just had a look at that sensor is that a pressure sensor as the code says temperature sensor. Would that part through up a p0112 code do you think?

It's both.  It measures pressure (boost) and air temp. Technically called a tMAP sensor.  There isn't a standalone intake air temp sensor on this engine as far as I'm aware.

That code isn't specific enough to say exactly which part is at fault unfortunately.  My semi-educated guess would be that boost sensor rather than the MAF.  But it still could be a fault with the wiring rather than either sensor.

You can either try swapping the boost sensor, which is quick & easy.  Or get an auto-electrician to check the wiring and confirm which sensor is faulty, if not wiring.  The cost and hassle of that is likely to be higher though.

Worth checking that your air filter is clean!
