I completed the upgrade to 3.4 from 3.0. Everything went smooth, just that the process took a bit longer that I expected (1 hour and 17 minutes). I didn't bother activating the climate screen at the end. Thanks for the advice nevertheless.

    If your car came with Sync 3 then this might be true but if you are retrofitting Sync 3 to an earlier Focus you will not be able to get the climate display the correct way round.

    Not without jailbreaking the unit. I'm not aware of any mods for that sort of thing either.
