Fiesta mk7 pats 16 immobiliser

Featured Replies

Hi, I have the pats code 16 on my Fiesta mk7 09 plate, I have read through a few posts on here regarding the issue and I'm still stuck. I've checked the instrument cluster cables at the back, they seem well in place, I've checked all the culprit fuses and relays, they seem fine too, I've checked the resistance on the canbus, that reads 60ohms. Is it worth opening the IC to check for the brittle solder? I'm sure I've read that fault is very uncommon on the mk7 fiesta.

I've checked the 2 ground cables behind the battery tray, they look clean enough, I'm no mechanic so my knowledge is limited, if there's good resistance on the canbus I'm assuming the wires are fine and I'm wondering if it's likely to be a problem with the ECU itself?

I always like to try sort things out myself before paying someone haha

Cheers,

Adrian.

Use FORScan and read the Ford specific DTC, and then you will know what the problem is.

Hi, nice one for the reply, I have had the guy from the garage hook their expensive scanner up but he said there's no connection to the ECU, do you reckon Forscan will work if the expensive garage one won't?

I've read about Forscan and it seems like the best thing for anyone with a Ford, pretty cheap too aye.

Yes.

Yeah nice one, I'll have to purchase one then.

So, I bought the Vlinker adaptor, downloaded ForScan on my laptop, downloaded the drivers for the com port and all that.

On trying to connect to the vehicle I keep getting the error to make sure the key is in the on position, it is, I've tried fiddling with the obd port, unplugging/plugging the USB on the laptop, it just keeps saying about the key.

I took a couple of screenshots, any ideas?

Could it be a dodgy cable?

I've tried setting it to the com port in the settings tab too.

You have selected FORScan to 'diagnostic' not 'demo' mode ?

Using a multimeter check that you have a 12 volt supply at the OBDII port

Yeah, it's not in demo mode, I'll check the volt supply tomorrow, nice one for the help mate.

Passenger compartment fuesbox. Check the following fuses:

Fuse F13 (10 Amp)

Fuse F17 (15 Amp)

Fuse F19 (15 Amp)  (OBDII)

The fuses are alright, on Forscan the bottom right shows a good 12v on the bottom right, apparently it's reading pin 16. If that's not completely accurate I'll check with a multimeter tomorrow.image.thumb.png.6cc1e4da2f96aaec56274ebaef48776d.png

12.2V, is actually a bit low if that is the correct voltage but I don't think that will have anything to do with the problem.

I'm going to just have to get the garage to tow it to theirs then I think, hopefully they can solve the issue and maybe I can get the Vlinker to connect another time for future problems?

I'm all out of ideas, checking all the wiring itself seems a bit beyond my level of knowledge.

I tried the VLinker on my brother's Ford Mondeo, connected no problems. So at least I know the cable is not a problem.
