2020 fiesta jumping out of second gear

Featured Replies

so my 2020 fiesta has today started grinding into second gear then jumping straight out of it again, all other gears ok, guessing this is going to a syncro issue? any advice or other known issues would be really appreciated.

thanks in advance

IB5 chocolate gearbox I assume ?

not sure of the gearbox but it is the later style chain driven engine with the mhev system, only done 35k, is this a common issue then?

It’s a common issue on the mk7 with ib5. But the mk8 ditched that box.

For an IB5 gearbox, yes it's common.

If you want, send me a PM with your VIN and I'll have a look on the build spec

2020 Fiesta Mk7.5 with the ib5 gearbox ? 🤔

Just speculation, but I wonder if the IB5 situation is repeating itself? That box was ok with the normally aspirated engines, but wilted with the Ecoboost turbos.

The Mk8 6 speed (6MTT215) box afaik has been carried forward to the MHEV versions, where it now has to cope with the extra "torque fill" from the mild hybrid system. There were already concerns that it was not that strong a box, several threads previously eg:

as well as comments on this one.

I have spoken to ford customer services who have opened a case for me ,  This involves a ford garage looking at the car and diagnosing the problem .  Then  the fun starts
