Passenger brake light not working

Featured Replies

Hi and hope someone can help.

Just bought a 2015 Fiesta Style (basic model) 1.2 engine.  The passenger brake light isn't working but all other lights appear to be okay. I've changed the fuse and changed the bulb. Is there anything else I should check before I take it in to be looked at?

Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

The ground tab in the lamp holder is not protruding far enough out and is not making contact with the side of the bulb.

It just needs eased out a few millimeters with a small screwdriver.

Thanks for the quick response, I'll give this a go.

Okay, I've adjusted as instructed and still not working. I also tried plugging the light unit in on the other side and it worked! So the fault isn't with the sockets or bulbs. It must be the wiring that goes from the light to the brake switch. Could the brake switch have a fault which would only make one of the lights faulty? Or must it be a break in the wire somewhere. Starting to think it's time to take it in as it might be beyond my limited skillset!

Update - I pushed in the wires in the connector (NB: car side - not the lights/removal part) and hey presto, both lights are back on. So there is obviously a loose connection there which may go again at some point. Hope this helps someone else.
