Mk8 fiesta ecoboost concerns

Featured Replies

Hello, i have recently bought a 2018 fiesta 1.0 eco boost 125. and have some questions about it. firstly are the power variants any different or literally just different maps and also my car is as i said 2018-57000 miles. wondering about the wet belt and other issues if its worth getting a garage to have a look. also does anyone know if moddifying the car will largely increase the risk of failure? (i assume it will)

thank you

Hi Finn, welcome to the forum. There are absolutely loads of threads on here about wet belt issues, so it would be an idea to have a good look around. (It would have been an even better idea to have a look before buying, but that's life!)

Checking the belt is mentioned, but it's not a matter of just removing a cover. You could drop the sump and check the oil pump strainer for debris which is a sign of belt deterioration, but it's not a 5 minute job and could be pricey if paying a garage - you could put that cost towards getting the belt done early for peace of mind.

Given you're in Lancs, these people may be worth having a word with:

It's never been 100% clear about differences in the different outputs: different maps definitely, some sources say turbos differ slightly, others disagree.  The 140 variant has a different head gasket and lower overall gearing. A stage 1 remap on any of them generally achieves around 150-155bhp.

You've answered your own question on mods, really, if you're worried already and given the ongoing "Ecoboom" saga.
