How did you no I have a cupboard under my stairs...what you trying to tell me

This question keeps coming up on here recently but either I'm missing the answers or they don't get posted.  I seem to remember the Haynes didn't help previous posters.

I thought it was mounted below the NS headlight on the Mk7, but perhaps not all of them.

Have removed both headlights and in engine compartment but it's still hiding..Will wait till weekend and remove belly pan and check underneath

I don't think it'll be underneath.  Relays are prone to damage from water and salt so they're generally kept higher up.  I think it'll be around the chassis leg near the battery & fusebox somewhere.

Thank you

Will have to have another good look

Also have a starting problem with starting and fuel

I have fitted a primer pump as the fuel drops back over night But not every night.

I see bubbles in the pumps clear pipe and have to prime most morning

Information I've seen on this subject gives 3 different answers with regards to the Glow Plug control on the Fiesta Mk7.  It seems during the production run, and also possibly depending which factory built them the location and type of control changed.

  • The most common is the auxiliary relay box mounted behind the left hand headlight (the right when looking at the front of the car). The box has the capacity to hold 4 relays but I've only ever known it to have 2. There is one relay for the radiator fan and one for the glow plugs. The headlight has to be removed to gain access.
  • After a few years of production the glow plug relay was moved to one that was fixed to a bracket on the side of the vehicle battery compartment.
  • Lastly before the Mk7.5 production ended the glow plugs were controlled by an electronic module (not a relay) and the location was moved back to near the front left hand headlight.

My 2011 1.6d had the glow plug module on side of battery compartment. It was subject to a recall - I think owing to risk of water ingress? Not sure how much help that'll be to you tho Danny...
