Best breaker to sell to?

Featured Replies

I've decided to scrap my 2015 plate fiesta titanium after wet cam belt went @67k miles.  I've been shopping around for best breakers to sell it to.  Any suggestions?  I'm in the Oxford area.   Have been quoted £875 so far with free pick up.

Really upset about the whole wet cam belt issue.  I called Ford they told me to go fry ice.  Have investigated the engine swap option but as I understand there could be issues with the turbo, injectors, vac pump etc.. So I've decided not to go down that route. sigh

Other than the total engine failure, what condition is the rest of the car in ?

If you can cope with a few daft questions and tyre kickers then selling privately for spares of repair should see over £1000 for a decent Titanium.  Can start with free options such as Gumtree & Marketplace but here's one example sold on eBay.

2014 FORD FIESTA 1.0T ECOBOOST TITANIUM 5DR MANUAL NON RUNNER / SPARES OR REPAIR | eBay

At just £875, it may be better value to fit a used engine (inc turbo & vac pump if necessary) and then sell it on as a runner than to take such a large hit at a scrapyard.

It is in good condition and I have photos.  Spoke to the chaps at Puma Speed as per your recommendation and they MAY be interested in buying it.  The problem is I'm in Oxford and they are in Leeds...  £300 to transport to do the engine swap.

It's certainly worth trying to sell it locally, using Gumtree, Facebook marketplace, or eBay.

I have sold several cars on Gumtree, some as runners, and my last car which was accident damaged (hit at low speed from behind by a Hungarian lorry/driver, on a roundabout).

As said above, be prepared for stupid questions/tyre kickers!

If the car's condition justifies it, fit a used engine and move it on

Just make sure you hear it running
