MK 4 zetec 1.25, new clutch needed

Featured Replies

Hi

I posted last week that I had a problem with my gearbox /clutch and it wasn't changing gear.

have just spoken to the garage and they said it needs a new clutch and quoted me £470 and then said that the flywheel may need machining ???, does anyone know what the time given for a new clutch is, please.

It sounds a little expensive for a clutch on such a basic motor and very rarely have I ever heard of a flywheel needing to be machined.

Oh and of course they said they had a better car if I was interested, a 2004 mini with 112k on it. For £1500.😱😱

I just wondered what others thought.

A Fiesta Mk4 1998 model is getting a bit long in the tooth. If you were to think of changing it I'd keep well away from the Mini (oil leaks included for free).

Your best buy would be a Fiesta Mk6 between 2004 and 2008 they generally just go on forever. Parts are cheap and plentiful and there is a wide range of engines and trim levels.
