Noise after Door Closing

Featured Replies

Have Fiesta Active 2023 plate bought 4 weeks ago as ex demonstrator....all going well except for slightly irritating clicking noise after closing drivers door and before starting with Start / Stop button. Only started a few days ago and was heard for first time when I got out of car and before I closed / locked door. I leant back in to retrieve something with key fob in hand and heard noise....I assumed I had maybe accidentally pressed one of the buttons on the key fob but wasn't conscious of doing so.....door closed / locked fine but same noise now heard every time I close drivers door from inside & before starting up.....only drivers door, not any others.

All doors / locks working fine but just a bit irritating that this ' clicking' noise has now started at closure of drivers door....noise sounds as if its coming from dash just behind steering column.....genuinely puzzling!

If it is a single loud click then it will be the Electronic Steering Lock arming and disarming itself.

Thanks very much for the prompt reply Tizer, duly noted.

Would there be any reason why this has only started happening in last few days & not in preceding 4 weeks since buying car ?.....could it have been caused if / when I may have accidentally depressed something on the key fob as described in original post ?.....and if so, should I be doing something to reverse it ?.....as stated, by no means a serious issue, just slightly puzzling.

We can't hear the noise so we can only guess from your description. To confirm if it is what I think it is then unlock the car and get into it but leave the key outside. I think the Steering lock will not disengage in that case.

Sometimes our memory can play tricks on us and the noise may have been there all along.

Thanks again.....Will try that when wife returns with car.....hear what you say about memory playing tricks but the noise is noticeable enough that it most definitely wasn't happening prior to being heard for first time a few days ago.
