Bluetooth/usb upgrade on a 2009 fiesta

Just gone to update my daughters 2009 Fiesta and fit the bluetooth module, cable etc.. and also upgrade her stereo to a 2011 Sony unit. But, the bluetooth cable has a grey plug which I know should connect to the corresponding grey plug under the radio unit but hers doesn't have this plug. I know it's there on my other daughters 2011 one which has bluetooth as standard but I was kind of hoping to find the same plug on the 2009 one.  Does anyone know how to get around this or even what the other part of this cable connects to ?
