Biting point drops when reversing or in 1st gear

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2015 Fiesta Zetec petrol and have recently been experiencing issues with the clutch and biting point.

Normally, when I use 1st or reverse gear, the biting point drops to practically on the floor and the car wants to pull away with almost no lift of the clutch. This often leads to the car being stuck in gear.

In all other gears, the car works perfectly fine with a normal biting point, even shortly after locking in gear.

I recently replaced the battery, upon the advice of the AA following a breakdown, and this appeared to solve the biting point issue then. The battery has been checked and charges correctly.

I have had the clutch checked a few times and no one has found any issues to date.

Has anyone had a similar issue? If so, has a fix been found?

That sounds as if the master cylinder for the clutch is leaking internally to me.

Presumably this happens when you are stationary, with the car in gear and your foot on the clutch?
