Mk6 fiesta worth putting money into?

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls,

I recently purchased a little 1.25 mk6 fiesta in a lovely what I can only describe as the st150 blue. Bought her for a grand and on whim as it was peeing it down with rain, she’s only done 94,868 miles which from my experience if looked after is nothing. The body work, interior and under body are all in good nick be it abit of surface rust underneath. I’ve just had to have a new steering rack put in at the cost of just under 400 and in the process the idiots ruined a pipe!! They repaired but only as a temporary fix so I now need to do power steering pipes myself. My question is after the long winded explanation is is the little car worth putting money into? I like the car to be honest I love fiestas just don’t want it to be a money pit. Was think of doing a st rep on her though so i may be contradicting myself by saying I don’t want it to be a money pit. Just after some friendly advice really.

Many thanks

Adam

If you use used parts it will cost you even less.

With that much mileage the engine needs a cambelt now, so check if it's been done.

The garage should replace what they have damaged, end of, especially if they have caused an MOT fail.

If they won't do it, I'd take them to small claims

ST150's came in Performance Blue.  That was a unique colour, not used on lower spec models.  Unless it's had a respray, I doubt it's the same blue.  That may change the idea of making an ST rep if all the upgrade parts would need painting.

Check the rear spring hangers for rot! If rusty, do something about it asap. Otherwise, sounds  like you've got yourself a steal!

I’ve attached the mess they’ve made! There is no way I can replace them pipes without doing some sort of damage to the rack resulting in more work needed I’ve emailed the garage see what happens otherwise small claims it is

Might just be a blue that looks like it but do look sort of similar

She’ll openly admit she doesn’t have a clue when it comes to cars 😂 she’s had her car god knows how long and still can’t tell the difference between the oil filler cap and the window wash filler which is scary if she ever needs to either up herself
