hi the above car had done 52,000 ,regular oil changes and services

for about the last 3 months ive noticed a ticking similar to tappets

on first start up from cold not there but after about 1-2 minues its there,goes away slowly as the car warms up

not there at all when the car is stationary and being revved only on acclamation 

any ideas? would like t sort it out as its a great little car and i intend to keep it 

Hi there, i think your in a panic for nothing tbh. It’s more than likely that you are hearing the evap emissions purge valve doing exactly what it’s meant to. Although it doesn’t sound a bit similar to tappets it’s actually an electrical clicking sound. To test and prove my theory just unplug the evap purge valve while the tapping is happening and if it’s stops then it’s completely normal. If it’s still there then check the oil level, though I doubt it will be.
