Fiesta 2014 rear parking sensors. Removal

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Forgive me if there's already a thread about this, but I searched through and found nothing.

I want to remove my rear parking sensors and respray the brackets that the sensor locates in to. I have discovered how to remove the parking sensor (by getting under the car and pushing the sensor outwards, and thankfully no need to remove the bumper) but I want to remove the sensor from the bracket to respray them rather than do them while still connected to the sensor. Is it just a case of pushing in clips and prising out the sensor, or twisting the sensor? I see it locates back in to the bumper easily enough

Any advice appreciated, and again, apologies if there's already a thread about removing. 😊

The sensor has two small tabs, one either side.  They just push straight into the brackets to fit.  So to remove, you need to pull the bracket clips apart and push the sensor straight back.

As they're plastic, there is a risk of them being brittle after 10 years and snapping but that risk is lower during the warmer weather.

Appreciate that. Thank you. Will be looking in to that tomorrow. Paint and lacquer arrives Monday so hoping to at least tidy them up if nothing else.

Managed to push out all four sensors from behind the bumper without the need to remove the bumper at all. Easily removed (with care) and cleaned up ready for painting. I noticed the paint on the sensors themselves was a bit messy and cracked. Cleaned those up a bit, but now get the constant bleeping from, I think, one of the sensors. Hoping spraying them again will cure that. But I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Appreciate your help.
