New audio system

Featured Replies

Hello all,

To install a new system into my sons Mk 6 I have the following bits in mind:

Head unit

DAB / FM splitter

ISO harness

I already have removal keys for the factory unit.

Am I missing anything? It's been a number of years since I last installed a new system. 20 years ago I knew what I was doing, but now I want to check first!

Thanks.

Maybe a radio surround if it's a different style radio

Steering wheel control adaptor...

Don't forget pos and ignition maybe in opposite places if it's not a ford radio

Antenna plug adapter depending on radio

Thanks.

I've started looking into steerwing wheel control adapters. There seem to be different ones for those with or without a 12v feed in the harness.

Is there any way to tell which I have without removing the current head unit?

The adapters from Connects2 seem to be popular, but I don't know which one to order:

Adapters

Cheers

That's exactly what I did, and yes they are good. I have the CTSFO002.2 kit en route.

I have also grabbed a fascia panel from eBay.

All I need to do now is figure out how to secure the cage that comes with the new stereo. It obviously fits into the aperture vacated by the 6000CD but it doesn't fit snugly and there's nothing for it to grab onto by beding the tabs outwards.

I'm thinking I might get some plastic shims which are used for fitting windows, and put a pair of small screws through either side into the exisiting plastic.

Of course, I would welcome any advice before is start getting medieval on the car from anyone who has done this before a knows of a better way!
