Hi from a newbie

Featured Replies

Hi all, newbie to the forum and newbie to Fiestas. I’ve owned both a Ka and Puma in the past.

I purchased a 66 plate 1.0 turbo titanium over Easter and didn’t realise until i got it that its eco boost.. not a feature I particularly wanted. Not cos I’d heard anything bad, I’m just not bothered about it.

I had no idea about the “wet belt” issue until I signed up to this forum - which was after I bought the car - and now I’m a bit concerned as I do quite a lot of mileage at the moment.

I’ve got her booked in for a major service just so that I can be sure all the essentials are running ok. I am clueless about cars, only this year learnt how to even check my oil and water 🙄

I generally leave eco mode off - will that hurt or help the engine or does it make no difference?

Also, can anyone help with identifying what MK she is? I thought MK was a specific model 🙄

…. as you can tell, I have a LOT to learn. Hence why I’m here 🤣😊

Hi

EcoBoost is just a brand name.  It's not a feature.  All 1.0 Fiestas use the same engine.*

(*There were a few built without a turbo, but the rest of the engine is the same and they are very rare due to having no redeeming features.)

Eco mode doesn't make any difference to the engine.  It's a bit of a gimmick designed to save you about 2mpg over a tankful.

It's a Mk7 facelift.  Or Mk7.5 for short.

The wetbelts should be changed before it reaches 10 years old.

Hi Stacey,

That is a Mk 7 facelift (or Mk 7.5 as it's generally known).

Eco mode won't hurt the engine. Opinions differ as to whether it actually helps economy, it mainly just dulls the throttle response. Imo at least, you can achieve better economy by good anticipation, correct use of brakes, gears, accelerator, etc.

On the Ecoboost engine, if you've not spotted them already, there are numerous threads on here on the subject. Key point for you to note at this stage is the "wet" cambelt MUST be changed at, or preferably before, 10 years.
