2006 1.4 TDCI Induction Kit

Featured Replies

Hi

I currently am driving a 2006 1.4 TDCI, great little car however I have always felt that the initial throttle response was a bit lacking.
I had looked into induction kits on the internet however there doesn’t seem to be anything that fitted what I wanted so I went about designing something myself.
The picture below is only a mock up (Not finished) it now has the breather pipe located in the top of the cam cover connected now.
I have given it a short test drive, however the throttle response seems to be even worse now, very flat.

Has anyone else fitted an air intake system and had similar issues?
Not sure if I would need a remap to notice any gains?

thoughts?

Induction kits are no good on a diesel.

Fit the standard induction system back on with either a Pipercross element or, if you must, a K&N

Then have the car remapped, you won't get masses out of it as it's only a 1.4, but you'll certainly get more throttle response and low down torque

Plus the 1.4 TDCi only has 14 BHP so even a remap isn't going to add much.

Adds a fair bit of torque though, enough that you'd notice

Did you remember the wax seal? 🤭

Seriously though, as others have said, the throttle delay is part of the mapping, so can be removed without any physical changes.  HDi-Tuning can push these to around 90bhp & 200Nm torque on a stage 1 remap.  The main restriction on these is the turbo, so you'd need to fit a larger turbo (such as the one from the 1.6 TDCI) to get much more than that.
