Clutch engages at very top of pedal travel

Featured Replies

I have never owned  or even driven a fiesta before but just bought a 2011 1.25 zetec. My worry is that the clutch bites at the very top of the pedal stroke, I understand that the clutch actuator is hydraulic but is this normal ? clutch does not appear to be slipping , and car will stall if i try to pull away with handbrake full on ..... but is this clutch bite position a sign that the clutch is on its way out? I would welcome any feedback to put my mind at rest on this Thanks !

Normally it does mean the clutch is worn but could be the cable.

Not sure on all models but on my 1.6d you can move the cable locking coller where the cable attatches to the clutch..front of car..passenger side underneath the is a plastic cover..the coller can be pulled out and refitted higher or lower

Difficult to explain but may make a difference

Thanks for your reply Danny. I have not owned a ford for 20 years and have always driven a Volkswagon Golf up to now  so this is new territory for me , but in the past i have always thought a clutch engaging at the top of its pedal travel  to been a sign its on its way out, but maybe a different manufacture engineers the set up/ operation differently.

Thanks again

From experience if it bites at the top its normally on its way out..try what I explained..just remember to take note of its original setting

Up on ramps is better but axle stands will do
