Any idea what this connector is for ? -tow bar wiring help

Featured Replies

I'm hoping someone might know what this connector is for in a 2005 mk5. Its above the drivers side rear wheel arch attached to the lighting loom.

Im currently wiring up a trailer bypass relay (ringRCT485) for my partner, the lights are done and working but i need to run a cable with an inline fuse directly to the battery's 12v terminal but having come across this connector im hoping it might be there to help as there is a spot for "trailer/lighting" fuse172. I really have no idea but it would help a lot if it where and something tells me i should ask before running wires through the car and firewall and finding out i didnt need to.
If it is for the 12v power between the fuse box and the bypass relay what type of connector would it be, initially i thought spade until i could actually see inside it on the photo.
also wondering, if this is factory wiring for a trailer would i still need to run a short cable from the 172fuse spot to the 12v battery terminal ?

Hoping i can get this finished up in the morning so any help and advice is appreciated

That looks like the connector for the factory option reverse camera. Or it could be for the rear parking sensors.

There is no constant live 12V supply in the rear of the 2005 Fiesta. You will need to run a wire all the way through to the front passenger compartment fuesbox and connect to a constant live fuse there.

Orange/Blue should be battery voltage at all times. Green/Blue in start & run.

Apologies, although the connector and wiring is present, it for some reason seems likely that the circuit at the fusebox end isn't.
