'14 Plate Fiesta Mk VI (or VII?) Sixth Gen Wet Belt Question

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

My daughter's Ecoboost 1L 125 has done 63,500 miles.  The wet cam belt hasn't been changed afaik.

My petrol-head son says the belt should be changed at 60,000 miles - is this true?

If it is, I'm guessing it is a long and involved costly dealer job?

What kind of price should I be looking at - £500 / £1000 / £1500 / £2000 - I really have no idea.

Thanks in advance,

Zaph

Oh, I have another question about this car (battery) in a separete post.

If it’s 2014 then mileage is irrelevant because it’s due at 10 years.

£1500-2000 for a dealer to do it.

Some specialists are starting to pop up that are usually cheaper.

It's overdue now so don't delay.

Ford dealers are charging crazy prices, typically around £1800, but some do smile while they take your money 🤣

I'd suggest you take a look at North West Engines or there is a specialist in Darlington.

Thanks, but a bit of a trek from Chesterfield!

If you (or your daughters car) really are in Derbyshire these people may be worth a look:

Haha.

We are just on the border of S.Yorkshire and N.E.Derbyshire (S.W.Sheffield).  My daughter is 5 miles further south, just over the border in N.E.Derbyshire (Dronfield) and it is her car that is broke.

Actually taking it to Neil Grayson to have a look this afternoon. See if he can do anything better than the £180 from KwikFit.

Thanks for that link Eric, I've emailed then to get an idea of cost

I’m confused. Kwik fit have quoted £180 for a wet belt change?

No.  That's for the Transit battery.  Keep up.

Oops! My Bad!

Yep - problem with posting three different questions on FOC (for two different cars) AND recharging LiPo batteries for RCRacing tonight.

Shame I can't multi-task but there you have it.  Good spot Tom!

I am planning on having my wet belts done on my 2014 (37,350 miles) 1.0 ecoboost later this year. I have read numerous good reviews about ECOPRO in Saxilby, near Lincoln and, even though it's a trek from Southampton, will probably arrange to have it done there. Apparently they're quick, do a good job and reasonably priced.

Aarons Autos (Derby) have quoted me £1095.00 inc vat which includes

  • Wetbelt kit
  • Oil pump belt
  • Water pump
  • Front cover seal (between front cover and block)
  • Crank bolt
  • Friction washer
  • Engine oil
  • Oil filter
  • Anti freeze
  • Sealant

 All parts are genuine Ford

If it requires an oil pump (light is staying on) it would be £1400.00 inc vat in total. (we clean out the oil strainer/pick up if we do not replace the pump)

We would need the car for 3 days and we are booking July.

Hope this helps someone, we're probably going to sell the car now that the battery issue is sorted and let someone else deal with the wet belt.

I have been looking into this for ours.  Best ive found so far is pumaspeed.  Seem to have a decent rep around here and £850 for the job.  I dont think they are that far from you either

Anyone know a reasonable garage in Scotland to change my daughters timing belt due this year.
