MK4 Focus ST-Line Fog light

Featured Replies

Morning,

My driver's side fog light has gone out last night. Believe it's the LED unit with cornering light function.

Is this a sealed unit or is it possible to replace the bulbs?

If the unit needs replacing is it a bumper off job or is there easy access removing the trim around the fog light or access from under car?

MK4 68 plate.

Cheers!

The round LED fogs are a sealed unit.  They can be bought used on ebay for around £30.

The bumper doesn't need to be removed.  Just pop out the plastic trim on the front, then the fog light is screwed in behind it.

Thank you as ever!

I'll have a look and see what I find 👍

Hi mate,

Had a look and cannot get the trim off to save my life, tried with plastic pry tools and cannot get under it. Any tips please? 🥺

Can you get any purchase on the raised part in the middle?  If you can grip that tightly and pull it straight back it should release the clips around the edge.  Will be very tight as it's probably never been off.

Could also try a thin tool along the top, like a butter knife shape, but obviously take care not to damage either part.

Otherwise it might be best to wait for someone that's actually done it to confirm.  Though I'm 95% sure that is the correct method.

Cheers mate, I'll give it a look over the weekend and get back to you.

Nothing on YouTube for a MK4 which is a surprise!

No luck at all! Bit stumped tbh! Don't want to take the whole bumper off!

In fairness, it's not difficult to remove the front bumper.  Should be able do to it in under 30 minutes using a YouTube guide.

You could also remove part of the undertray to reach up without removing the bumper.  Then you can push the tabs for the plastic surround out individually.  Though I still think the light itself comes out through the front after the surround is removed.

Might be an undertray job next time I service it if all else fails.

If I get the surround off easy enough, might put a YT video guide up lol
