Oil pressure light stays on after cold start

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am the owner of a 2013 Ford Fiesta 1.5 TDCi, and I've been experiencing a slight problem ( i hope 🙏), as shown in the picture. After the first cold start in the morning, the oil pressure indicator remains on for about 2 to 3 seconds before turning off. During this time, an error message appears for approximately 1 second or less, saying "Low engine oil pressure, please stop." The message disappears along with the red oil indicator.

However, after the first start of the day, the issue doesn't reoccur.

I recently changed the oil using a good quality filter (Bosch) , and I used Castrol Magnatec 5w30 oil. I also replaced the oil pressure sensor, but still the same issue.

Could you help me identify the source of the problem?

FI: nothing show up with forscan

Thank you.

The new Filter may be defective, personally I only use Ford ones.

You should be able to Live Monitor the Oil Pressure with FORScan to see if it is low all the time or normal except for the first clod start of the day.

The minimum Pressure to trigger the Oil Light in the Instrument Cluster is normally about 6psi.

Thank you for your feedback.

I have reviewed the available PIDs, but unfortunately, I could not locate anything resembling "oil pressure measurement" in the list. The only related entry I found was for an oil pressure switch, which indicates the status of being on or off.

Do you remember the specific name of that data ?

Think the oil pressure switch is just that, a switch so won't be able to check pressure.
