When my car comes up for its next service I'm going to have the wet belt changed. As I'm 87 years of age that should see the car last me.   Can anyone tell me what other work would be recommended while the engine is in bits?  I don't mind spending some cash as this is a really nice car.

As yours is automatic, it's crucial to have the oil pump belt and tensioner replaced at the same time as the cambelt kit.

While they've got the sump off for that, they should clean out the oil pump pickup as a matter of course.  You can choose to have the oil pump replaced if preferred, but it's not a cheap part and a clean should be good enough for that.

The waterpump isn't driven by the cambelt on these, so not a necessity, but if you want everything done in one to give another 5+ years peace of mind, then it would be worth changing the waterpump at the same time in my opinion.

Oil and filter should be changed with the belts.  Coolant should be changed if having the waterpump done.

And as the auxilliary belt needs to be removed, that should be replaced as well if still original.

The garage may also need to replace a few other seals that get disturbed during the process.

As I'm sure you've read, it'll likely be around £1500 to do all of that.  Some cheaper quotes don't include removing the sump or replacing the oil pump belt.

Parts Recap:

Cambelt
Cambelt tensioner
Crank pulley bolt

Oil pump belt
Oil pump belt tensioner

Oil
Oil filter

Optional:

Auxiliary belt

Waterpump
Waterpump gasket
Coolant

Cam cover gasket
Injector seals

Keep all the receipts because when they do the recall on autos, which they'll have to, you may be able to claim it all back

Many thanks Tom.  I'll copy and print this and take it with me.   I know how to drive the thing but not what makes it work.😄
