Long journey query

Featured Replies

Hi all new to fords here just buying my first 2015 1.0 eco boost zetec and very much looking forward to it. My question is will the car be ok to drive long distance with a fair load in? Be me and the wife and our bulldog and a fair amount of luggage in the back seat. I live in Plymouth and will be driving about 4.5 to 5 hours to mid Wales. I've always had larger powered cars in the past and just wondering if anyone has experienced similar in the fiesta please if it isn't a daft question. Thanks in advance Bazza

Wow 90 views and no replies at all.

Yes I have 2014 Ecoboost and regularly carry 3 or 4 adults across to Lincoln from Somerset. No problems.

Most of us haven't driven that specific car on long journeys to give any personal experience.

From an outside perspective, I haven't read about any 1.0 EcoBoost's failing because of a long drive on here.

The most common issue on the Fiesta after a long drive is the clutch pedal losing pressure.

Would also probably want to know the wetbelts had been done before a long drive in one of these myself.

In years long gone by, drove from Yorkshire to Devon and Cornwall many times in an 1117cc Mk 1 with 55hp, so you should be fine if you can fit all your stuff in.

More recently done lots of long trips in a 1.0 ecoboost with no problems.

Like Tom, I'd be happier if the wetbelt had been changed - you may have had it done already, of course.

Yes, it's the cambelt which is due for a change at 10 years maximum. Plenty of threads on the topic.

No problems with long journeys in a 1 litre Fiesta. Nottingham to Lockerbie and back for instance.
