hi all, 

unfortunately after i got my 1.0 ecoboost remapped to 135bhp from 100, the gearbox is starting to go...

ive had the map since 33k miles and i've now just passed 40k, to be honest i was aware that i should be gentle especially when pulling in 1st and 2nd which is where the problems lie, when shifting down into 1st or 2nd unless i am going very slow there is a painful grind almost every time.

i wasn't too bothered because my car comes with a warranty from the garage i bought it from, but what im thinking is even if i get a whole new gearbox fitted surely it will not last that long.

i was wondering if i could be a bit cheeky and take advantage of the warranty and maybe get a 6 speed focus or st gearbox fitted but ask the garage to quote for a normal gearbox replacement for the purposes of my warranty.

what do you guys think is my best step forward? just get a standard gearbox fitted or what i mentioned above?

Well, there's no doubt the 6 speed Focus box is stronger, and there is a thread on here** on the conversion which is not quite as straightforward as it might seem.

Potential flaws with your plan:

- Finding a garage that would play ball

- I'd be very surprised if you have not already invalidated any warranty by modifying the car.
