70-Plate Mk8 - Additional Boot Light

Featured Replies

Hi folks, just a quick query.

My daugher has just bought a 70-plate Mk8 Fiesta.

The boot light on the offside is rather pathetic and I was wondering if you could wire another bulb in parallel with the first on the nearside (there's space).

Would this work or would the 'smarts' in the car start yelling that there was something wrong?

Thinking also of replacing the standard bootlight with an LED unit (either the complete unit of just the bulb).

Thoughts / comments / links welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Zaph

I have done this on my mk7 2009 .I changed both bulbs to led so not to put to much of a drain and ran the twin wires up and into the headlining then down the left side.  And yes it did make a difference

Got the lens from the breakers (must of fell into my toolbox)

Try changing the bulb to an LED one, that's what I did with dramatic improvement...

So use something like a Scotchblock / ScotchLok to connect the wires to the second light and Canbus won't complain?

Just cut and solder, scotchblocks are awful things.  Or use heat shrink crimp connectors.
