Ford Fiesta Mk8 Handbreak Leaver Issue

Hi All,

I have an issue with the handbreak leaver on my Fiesta.

The handbreak holds the car but the leaver does not always stay in place, no clicking when not working.

On looking the plastic rod "does not look damaged" from the handbreak leaver button is getting disconnected from the metal gripper "sorry not a car person lol"

Any ideas?

    Sounds like the ratchet is getting stuck in after pressing the button?

    Can't remember ever seeing this happen before.  Have seen a few ratchets wear out on older cars.

    If you can see where the connector between button & ratchet is getting stuck then lubricate it with sone thick grease.  (Not WD40).

    If you can't see where it's getting stuck then just buy another lever from a scrap yard, every Mk8 had one so scrap yards must be full of them by now

    What ! Only a few years old, or are the scrappies full of 1.0 ecoboost cars ?

    Time flies at our age...they've been around for 7 years already!  There are over 20,000 used Mk8 Fiesta parts on ebay UK right now.

    Lol, it goes supersonic in another 30 years or so!

    Had our water bill this morning (one of the few thats not on direct debit) and was moaning to Mrs B that I only paid one the other day. Just checked and it was 16 February!😀

    All sorted, just had to replace the plastic rod going from handbreak button to metal ratchet.  The new one is as tight as a ....., old one was as loose as a ....
