Mk8 st line possible fuel leak

Featured Replies

Hey guys just want some advice on the recent mk8 st line I have got as I suspect its got a fuel leak as coming back home from work the fuel range said I had 363 miles and after a 10mile journey it's now showing 333miles and while on the way home it just kept going lower even though I was as eco as can plus had the eco mode switched on.  Surely a 10 mile journey ain't going to use 30 miles of petrol and when I got home and kept the engine running and looked under the car I can't see any drips at the back and obviously can't see anything at the front due to under tray.

I don't know anything about your vehicle specifically or its eco mode, but the amount of fuel remaining given in miles on your IC is just a somewhat rough estimate based on how efficiently fuel is being consumed, i.e. the calculated MPG (miles per gallon) you're achieving, which will vary from journey to journey and throughout each journey. You probably just had a less efficient journey than your last one so it's adjusted accordingly.

The fuel range is a pure 'guesstimate' based on how much fuel it took to do the last 100 miles.

Sometimes it will drop quicker if for example going up a long gradual incline and other times it will actually increase if on a nice steady drive on a flat road. Good as modern technology is, it can not predict the future, it can only guess.

Cheers mate as I reset everything on the dash to get accurate reading regarding mpgs from e10 and e5 fuel it hasn't done 100 miles since filling up so will hopefully see it start to increase. I was abit concerned seeing it drop 10 miles of range when I only done 10 meters last night bit this afternoon done the same route to work and only used 5 miles of range
