New battery? RFA error u0001 - 00-08.

Featured Replies

Hi, done a load of diagnosis on this but not found a conclusive reason for the error. The ignition control light came on and after running forscan on the ODBC port came up with error above. If I use the in car battery test it reckons the batter is 11.6v. If I put a meter across the battery terminals I get 12.39v and 13.65v when running so the alternator seems fine and battery seems borderline but ok but do you think his is enough to kick off the ignition warning light and error message ? Don’t want to splash out £200 on a new battery unless it’s needed.

Firstly the "in car battery test" is never correct !! It is displaying the voltage at the instrument cluster which has a voltage regulator fitted and so the figure will always be at least 0.6V less, possibly a lot more.

The DTC U0001 is not a real fault. It is simply communication error on the canbus network between two or modules. It is not a code that will turn on the malfunction light (EML).

A brand new top of the range "all singing and dancing" battery for your car is about £110

Your 'State Of Charge' at 12.39V is a little low, but not enough to indicate that the battery is needing to be replaced. Charge the battery for at least 12 hours while it is still connected to the car. Remember that the charger negative lead must be connected to the chassis earth point and not to the battery terminal.

Thanks for the info unofix. I don’t have a charger so that’s a no go. Not sure where you get a battery for that price. The Halfords one I have in my car is around £188.

I’ve booked it in to a local garage but it’s going to cost £114 just for them to diagnose what the problem is 😞

Just re tested the car and got a load of new error codes so hopefully that will help.

Another vote for Tayna from me, great service and you get good choice. Fitting isn’t bad in most cars providing you have basic tools and some brain cells to rub together 😀
