Ford Fiesta mk 7 2010 Rear Springs Replacement

Featured Replies

Hi There,

Advisory on Ford Fiesta 2010/ 2011 1.25 engine had corrosion on rear n/s spring

on both ends full coil ring length around. Also in the middle about 2cm to 3cm length

so decided to replace both springs. So put rear wheels 75mm high on ramp stand then

handbrake on and in reverse gear chocked front wheels. Then jacked up both sides of rear

body at jacking points so wheels were off ramp stand, Then doing one spring at a time

undid bolt securing shock absorber but before removing bolt put jack under shock

absorber bracket jacked so it just gripped. Then removed bolt and let down jack then got

person to stand on top of tyre wheel to allow spring to be easily be removed, Checked top

and bottom spacer pad rings (Top rubber Bottom plastic) make sure these go back in right position.

Top rubber has protruding rubber prong to fit into small hole and bottom plastic spacer

Has arrow cutout facing forward and clip at back to into small hole. Best method is put

all together then place into position (getting someone to stand on wheel again),

Then place jack under shock absorber bracket point and jack up until holes line up.

Reinsert bolt with Loctite added to threads and tighten up to torque spec remove

Jack now other side to do, when both sides done lower car down onto ramp stand

       and take for test drive.
