Just remember that it will fail the MOT if they are noticed by the tester.

It is not allowable to fit an LED bulb into a halogen cluster.

UK MOT (Not including NI)

Reason for refusal:

(c) Light source and lamp not compatible - Major

MOT wording:

Existing halogen headlamp units on vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp for light source and lamp not compatible.

This does not refer to complete replacement headlamp units which may be constructed with HID or LED light sources.

If a complete headlamp unit has been replaced with a unit that was manufactured with HID or LED light sources, it must not be failed for ‘Light source and lamp not compatible’ but it must meet all other requirements detailed in section 4 of this manual specific to the type fitted at the time of test.

If they're projectors it will not fail MOT as long as you don't put in rubbish and the beam is still fine

You need H7 LED 360 degree bulbs WITH NO FANS so they can be seated correctly

I was led to believe that if leds are fitted to a vehicle that didn't originally have them that it will fail aswell

And as they don't heat up the lens snow will gather in the winter and not melt...had to keep stopping and clearing

I use philips racing vision 200+ or 80w rally bulbs (obviously not on the UK roads)..both about the same brightness but the philips are whiter

You can't tell on a projector and it's what Ford did from 2020MY anyway

gawd almighty there is nothing more thoughtless than putting LED bulbs in anything that wasn't designed for an LED bulb.

There's a reason it fails the MOT - because you'll be blinding oncoming traffic.

Think about others and fit decent halogen bulbs (or proper/legal HID conversion) - you really don't need LEDs in a mk7 Fiesta - the lights are good from the factory.

From 20MY Fiesta Mk8 Ford put LED H7 bulbs in the projectors to replace the Halogens, it works and is legal and doesn't blind anyone

So you are stating there are no changes to the light system, i.e. projectors/output/anything, between 2008 and 2020, from the mk7 to the mk8?

The only change is the bulb?

Yeah.... right.....

2018 to 2020 yes, no change, I've told you three times now, Ford put an LED H7 bulb in the standard projector lights from 2020MY to make them LED headlamps

And the projector lens of the MK8 is the same as the MK7

Just the main beam went LED, not the high beam, that stayed halogen

Ok now?

So some bloke on the internet tells me the 2018 onward projector is good for an LED bulb?  I'd still rather have some actual information rather than just your say-so if that's ok 🤣 - are you a politician????

But getting back to this actual topic, this question, this blokes 2009 Fiesta - is that designed for an LED bulb?  Yes or no?

Blumming Nora, OK, the world is how you decide

@tomfor, just to clarify, you can fit LED H7s in your projector headlamps, only if they are projectors. And they MUST be the ones that are 360 degree light output and WITHOUT fans

Reflectors don't work.

They won't fail MOT or are illegal because:

A: You can't see them, so neither will any job's worth

B: The projector gives the light pattern of ANY light going through it, no matter what the source

But be warned @orangecurry may come round your house, sit on your front wall and take sharp intakes of breath
