Spotted this on Autotrader. Seriously can't believe someone has traded this in, rarer than the proverbial rocking horse sh*t/hens teeth.

It's probably knackered

That's pretty much the price when new:

Being rare doesn't make it desirable.  Can't imagine it's particularly nice to drive on the road.  Sort of thing you'd chuck in a heated lockup for 25 years and hope it appreciates in value.  But will anyone really want something like that in 25 years time?  I haven't even heard of the guy who signed it.  (Though I have no interest in racing, perhaps he is famous to those in the scene)

I suspect that's where it's come from, some older guy cashing it in for a pension, rather than trading it in for a Puma...  It's been there for a couple of years already.  Hopefully not stored outside...

It does have some desirable bits - Mountune upgrade, Quaife diff and Bilsteins for instance.

Whether that makes it worth ten grand over market average all depends on your POV I suppose, and which side of Marmite you find the cosmetics.😀

Lol, Malcolm Wilson OBE is a famous rally driver active from the 70's to 90s - possibly before your time!😀

Just re-reading that AT ad again, I see the car advertised has been modified (or messed with, depending on your POV) and is now quite a long way from the original M-Sport spec.

The last one they had was a wide- body conversion, that's defo not the same one. I do agree it's a bit of a gimmick as it's not a proper homologation car. As for storage, I'd personally drive the nuts of it. Its only tin and rubber after all.

Ah, fair point!  Not sure how that's relevant to a Mk7 Fiesta though.

My generation was more Petter Solberg...I seem to remember everyone having the RC version of his Impreza!

M-Sport was originally Malcolm Wilson Motorsport and the Fiesta WRC which was based (fairly loosely, you might say) on the Mk 7 Fiesta was developed by M-Sport.

That does add a bit of provenance then.   Must be quite a niche market but I'll take my ignorance elsewhere. 🤐

Must admit I'm a bit surprised BMW don't own the rights to 'M-Sport' as well.

Yes, it's a label I'd associate more with BMW also. Given the "brand infringement" cases you see nowadays, some rather tenuous (Lidl v Tesco Clubcard for instance) you might have thought so. I have an idea that just "M" is a trademark, though.
