Ford Focus 1.0 ST Line X 69 Plate Revised engine

Featured Replies

Hello

I am hoping someone might be able to give me some advice please.

I recently went to view a newer ford focus 1.0 st line x 69 plate with the revised engine.Does the revised engine mean that the timing belt is now a chain rather than a belt?

Are there any other problems i should look out for.

Thank for your time and help

Kind Regards Tristan

Yes it is timing chain but it still has a wet belt for the oil pump. We’re yet to see if that will cause the same issues.

ok thank you for your help, ive read the gear box's are made off chocolate and have read people have had trouble changing gears,do you know if this is a regular occurence or just a small percentage.

Thanks Tristan

The "chocolate gearbox" tag really applied to the Mk 7.5 Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost and the odd Mk 3 Focus with the same 5 speed box.

There are a number of threads on here regarding Mk 4s but there doesn't seem to be a particular pattern, eg:

Ok thanks for the information

There's been a few people on here with 1.0 Ecoboost MK4s with manual gearbox troubles

This thread has reactivated and I see it was @unofix who applied the "chocolate gearbox" tag to the Mk 4!😀 Doesn't seem to be a clear cause identified as yet.

Also I've seen a few comments on Mk 8 Fiestas - the change on both mine (1.0 and now 1.5) has been less than brilliant, but that's all (so far!)
