TPMS Issue

Featured Replies

Hello,

Looking for some help. Our 2015 Fiesta came up with the warning that TPMS sensor was not detected.

Took it to a local tyre fitter and they identified that one TPMS was dead. The garage said that we would need to order the part and they would fit it, seemed a bit odd but went with it. Ordered a genuine part online and they asked for the VIN to program the TPMS.

Took it to the garage and they fitted the part but the error has not gone away.

Went back and they used a device and scanned the TPMS and said that it was working. Further googling suggested that we needed to put the car into a train mode and use a device to train the car. We bought a button device and when we train the car the horn beeps on the first 2 TPMS which are the originals but we cannot get the car to beep on the one that we have changed.

Are we doing something wrong? Have we missed something? The garage does not want to seem to know. Not sure on next steps.

Thanks

Wrong sensor. There's 2 variants.

ev6t-1a180-dc Is the model we purchased. Do you happen to know which part number we need to look for?

Sounds like you got the right one , ford part number 2036832 from memory.  The other variant ford do end in CB. That's later fords.

So either faulty out the box or damaged when fitted.

Early ones ( yours ) have a square marking on the sensor, later ford ones Triangle marking. These are later ones

Just wanted to update this in case someone else comes across this. It turns out that the TPMS training has issues if you have something plugged into the 12v cigarette lighter. We had a mobile phone charger in there. I seen this suggested by someone else who was having TPMS issues I discounted it when I read it but it actually worked unplugged the charger and the tyres paired first time.

I suspect that it is more a case of the cheap Chinese quality mobile phone charger radiating spurious RF which interferes with the TPMS training tool.

Far from it was a Belkin MagSafe charger we got from the Apple Store.

It was also odd that the 2 TPMS before the new one trained okay.

Indeed they're not made in China, they're made in VietNam 🤣
