Exhaust

Featured Replies

Hello, this will sound stupid but I have a 1.25 fiesta freedom 2007 and was wandering if I can fit a milltek cat back system on it 😂 but I don’t know if it will cause any problems with the car? Or if it will fit into the mount of the manifold/ downpipe or if I will need to cut it near that area and put a sleeve from 42mm to 60mm for the milltek

With the lack of choice for your 1.25 it would prob be easier get a custom one built. I'd recommend Simon if ur close enough to EK, he built the SS exhaust on my old MoST155😎

Problem is there is none near me and I don’t have the money for it, I just don’t know if it’s the same pipe size or if it will play with the ecu, all I need is a toned and nice sounding exhaust that doesn’t sound raspy

Assuming the Milltek will be about 600-800 quid, plus the cost of adjusting/fitting it to a 1.25 (I dunno the specifics ofc) you'll be about the same price for a custom SS. You'll be able to "tune" the custom SS exhaust and pick a tailpipe(s)... The benefits will make the journey worth it👌🏻

Not including the increase in the insurance premium, I'd say not a very cost effective thing to do to a 1.25

My first ST180 had one of those Direnza exhausts from FleaBay and no cat.... stank of unburnt fuel and droned like a b*tch. Just don't get one of those lol

Agreed. But I also remember what's its like to be young and modify an unsuitable car (no offence Gav)... I started with a 955cc Fiesta Mk2 Pop Plus... over 30yrs ago ofc

Fair point. But I doubt if even the 18 year old me would have spent £60 (the approx value of £800 in 1970) on an exhaust. That was 6 weeks wages for me back then!😀

Now, if we're tripping down memory lane, I added a Janspeed exhaust manifold to my 1972 Datsun 120Y. Aahh... the tribulations of youth 😂

(I should clarify it was 1979 when I did it - I'm not that old LOL)

And there was me thinking I was getting a bit too old to be modifying my car... there's clearly plenty of life in me yet😂

.....and back in 1979 I was just getting a KwikFit exhaust fitted to my Escort Mk2 (cost a weeks wages) it came with a full 12 months guarantee. It rusted away and fell off in month 13 🤣

Anyway.... Doesn't anyone have any proper advice for Gav or is it just us old farts laughing at ourselves😂

40+ years later and KwikFit sell exactly the same junk😂

I'm afraid that's often the case on here!

This question (or similar) has come up many times of course and I can't think of a good recommendation having arisen. There simply doesn't seem to be much around for the 1.25.

Mind, my Mrs had one for a few years and as I recall the exhaust note was actually quite pleasing. That was a Mk 7 though, never tried a Mk 6 1.25.

You know what they say: "Growing old is compulsory, but growing up is optional"😀

In 1979, I was 4 years old! 😂

As a skint 17yr old student in 1992 I did the cheapest option and bought a cherry bomb... I'm 99% sure that'll fail an MOT nowadays tho🙉 and ur neighbours will hate you😂

I guess custom is the best option for Gav🤔
