How to disable alarm/horn? 2007 Mk6 Alarm Woes

Featured Replies

Hi all

We have an issue with my wife's 07 plate rolling collection of MOT advisories...

Said problem may just result in our new neighbours taking to the streets armed with pitchforks!image.gif.3925a054cdd4dbc7e77e810cbb787018.gif

It's coming towards the end of life for the car so not looking for major surgery but it'd be nice to find a solution. Every so often, the alarm will randomly go off - usually in the wee small hours of course. And as we've just moved to somewhere where it's on-street parking, this is causing issues.

We randomly get 'door open' alerts on the dash (passenger & driver's) so fairly sure it's going to be one of the door sensors in the lock. I replaced one years ago and it's a right PITA so won't be doing that again. And just not worth it if it's both that need doing. And who knows, could also be the back ones, bonnet, boot etc. The car was a salvaged write-off in its past so no surprise that some of the wiring may be a bit shonky.

So more looking to see if anyone has a way of actually disabling the alarm as a quick & easy temporary measure for 6 months or so till the car goes to scrap? Alternatively, if the alarm uses the horn, easiest way to just disable that? I know that's less than ideal and the alarm flashers would still go off but it's a stop-gap solution.

Thanks - Dunc

You live in Merseyside and you need to ask how to disable the car alarm ?????? 🤣

Sorry but that just seemed funny. As you might expect, Ford went to great lengths (well so they would claim) to make it difficult to disable the alarm system AND still have the car be able to start. The best thing to do would be to use FORScan and see what it is that is causing the alarm to trigger. You would be very unlucky to have multiple switch failures all at the same time. Most cases on the Fiesta model of your age is the bonnet switch on the latch. This can simply be unpluged and a wire link (bent paper clip) put in the plug. Wrap some electricians tape around it.

🤣 Fair point!

I don't have the software but might give that a go. We get intermittant door open alarms on the dash so thought they may be the culprit but anything's possible with this beastie.

Easiest check with no diags is opening each door individually to see if the courtesy lights come on & go off correctly.

If it is one of the latch switches, you could just bridge it out rather than replace the latch.  Just bear in mind the courtesy lights and auto-relock won't function correctly.
