Front struts for 2009 _2012 models and 2012 onwards Facelift

Featured Replies

Hi

Got a 2011 fiesta 1.25

Got a used front strut of eBay but when I took mine off. The one off eBay has some slight differences

I found that the one I got off eBay if defo off a 2012 onwards facelift fiesta 1.2

It will fit the car. The top mount is same and the two holes to fasten to hub are in same place etc

Differences I can see are the bottom plate that spring sits on has a large rectangle hole in it

Bottom of spring is slightly different and sits in thick moulded rubber

And it has a bracket with a hole on the opposite side of the shock to the hole were the drop link goes through..

The ford part numbers are different

Anyone put shocks of 2012 onwards facelift cars on their earlier pre facelift cars?

I'm not sure what to do

Im thinking it will be fine. Ford probably just revised the design slightly or made some improvements etc

Any help appreciated

Thx

It is always best to fit front suspension components in pairs, otherwise there is a good possibility you will experience steering/handling problems.

There are also different shocks depending on engine & trim level.

They'll all physically fit top & bottom, but comfort, looks and handling may all be compromised.

Tbh I'd just buy a pair of new aftermarket shocks as at least they'll be matching.
